Senior Auditor

The Senior Auditor is responsible for leading audit engagements, supervising junior team members, and ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services to a diverse client portfolio.

The role involves planning, executing, and completing audits in compliance with professional standards, while maintaining strong client relationships and contributing to the firm's growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Audit Delivery: Lead and manage audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring audits are completed on time and within budget.
  • Review financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP, FRS 102, etc.).
  • Identify audit risks, perform risk assessments, and design audit procedures accordingly.
  • Prepare and review audit working papers and ensure audit evidence supports audit conclusions.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain necessary information and provide audit findings in a clear and professional manner.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior auditors and trainees; provide on-the-job coaching and contribute to staff development and performance feedback; ensure effective delegation and workload management within the team.
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients during audit engagements; build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and service excellence; identify opportunities for value-added services and business development.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure all audit work complies with the firm’s quality standards, ethical requirements, and relevant legislation; stay current with developments in accounting, auditing standards, and regulatory frameworks; support the firm’s commitment to continuous improvement and risk management processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential: ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified; Minimum of 5 years experience in external audit within a professional practice environment; Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS, auditing standards (ISA), and Companies Act requirements; Experience managing audit assignments and supervising junior staff; Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving xsabvtc skills.
  • Desirable: Experience with audit software (e.g. CaseWare, CCH, Mercia); Exposure to a range of client sectors (e.g. manufacturing, not‑for‑profit, financial services); Working knowledge of corporation tax and other financial reporting requirements.
