Job summary

South West Norse, part of the Norse Group, seeks a Senior Architectural Technician/Technologist in Exeter, Devon. The role focuses on education sector projects across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Exeter office offers a base with flexible hybrid working and strong work–life balance. You will lead project teams, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and produce high-quality technical information, with site inspections to ensure compliance with policies and Building Regulations.

Qualifications

• Professional accreditation such as CIAT or progress toward chartership.
• Extensive experience leading and delivering complex construction projects from concept to completion.
• Good experience working on Educational Projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit (essential), with strong capability in Autodesk 2D drafting.
• Excellent specification writing skills, ideally using the NBS Chorus platform.
• Strong design, technical and construction knowledge with detailed detailing skills.
• In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, meet deadlines, and work autonomously or in a team.
• Strong communication with clients, consultants and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as project lead and coordinate other professional teams across all RIBA work stages.
• Develop designs and produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and construction information.
• Operate independently and supervise team members, providing guidance.
• Prepare and submit Planning and Building Control applications.
• Undertake design and technical reviews within the design team.
• Support junior team members with mentoring and review.
• Travel to client offices, consultants, and construction sites as required.
• Identify and help develop new business opportunities to support growth.
• Demonstrate commitment to the Norse Way CSR strategy.
