Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teaching staff, support staff, and external professionals to ensure appropriate SEND provision.
  • Support the identification of students with additional needs and contribute to appropriate assessments and interventions.
  • Ensure SEND policies, procedures, and statutory requirements are effectively implemented.
  • Promote inclusive teaching and learning strategies across the school.
  • Contribution to extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs.
  • Cooperation with colleagues in order to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Supply Desk are seeking a professional, passionate, and dedicated SENCO to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the Watford area, starting this September.

This full-time role is ideal for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised, and committed to ensuring that all students receive the appropriate support and opportunities to achieve their full potential while contributing positively to the wider school community.

You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision for students with SEND, working closely with teachers, support staff, parents and carers, external agencies, and other professionals. You will monitor and review student progress, support the development and implementation of individualised provision, and ensure that the school continues to provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to whole-school initiatives, staff development, and strategies designed to improve outcomes for students with additional needs. You will play an important role in promoting inclusive practice and ensuring that SEND students are effectively supported across the school.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with students with SEND
  • Experience in a SENCO or SEND leadership role, or a strong interest in progressing into SEND leadership
  • Passion for the development of learning
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and SEND provision
  • Inclusive ethics
  • Knowledge/Maintenance/Promotion of safeguarding
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
