Job summary

Engage Partners Limited is assisting a welcoming primary school in Watford to appoint an experienced SENDCo. The role leads SEND provision, works with staff and SLT to identify and support pupils with additional needs, and oversees IEPs and EHCPs. A qualified teacher with SEND leadership experience is sought, with a strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice.

You will liaise with parents and external agencies, promote inclusion, and ensure records are up to date in a supportive, long-term post.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) held
  • Previous SEND provision experience in a primary school
  • SENDCo experience or SEND leadership experience desirable
  • Holding or working towards an appropriate SENDCo qualification
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP process
  • Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills
  • Confident working with parents, external agencies and school leadership
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school
  • Identify and support pupils with additional needs with teaching staff and SLT
  • Oversee and review IEPs and support plans
  • Coordinate EHCP applications, reviews and provision
  • Monitor pupil progress and ensure appropriate interventions
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching and support staff
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals
  • Ensure compliance with current SEND statutory requirements
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and documentation
  • Promote an inclusive approach to teaching and learning

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Watford is looking for an experienced and passionate SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEND professional to take a leading role in ensuring pupils with additional needs receive the support, provision and opportunities they need to thrive.

The Role
  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff and senior leadership to identify and support pupils with additional needs
  • Oversee and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans
  • Coordinate EHCP applications, reviews and provisionMonitor pupil progress and ensure appropriate interventions are in place
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching and support staff

  • Ensure the school’s SEND provision meets current statutory requirements

The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience working within SEND provision in a primary school
  • SENDCo experience or experience supporting SEND leadership is highly desirable
  • Hold or be working towards an appropriate SENDCo qualification
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP process
