Billinghurst, West Sussex.

Based in our own idyllic grounds, this school is a non-maintained special school and offers extensive specialist facilities, providing an exceptional learning environment for our students to reach their full potential.

Facilities include woodland and outdoor classroom space, high specification sensory room and swimming pool.

Work Pattern

Hours : Monday to Friday, 40 hours

Contract : Term Time Only (39 weeks), Permanent

About Our Students

Secondary aged students with Special Educational Needs including Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

About The Role

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning, managing a class team, and supporting the pastoral needs of students. This role involves implementing the school’s ethos and educational programmes, tracking student progress, and leading annual reviews in collaboration with external agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work across all year groups, but predominantly Year 8 and Year 10.
  • Support academic and social development by delivering engaging lessons.
  • Act as a class tutor, fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and carers.
  • Lead and manage a class team to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress using a variety of assessment methods.
  • Set personalised learning targets and coordinate termly and annual reviews.
  • Provide updates to external agencies on student progress and development.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.

  • Stay informed about developments in UK education, particularly in SEND.
  • Demonstrate qualities such as adaptability, integrity, enthusiasm, and a nurturing approach.
  • Foster a collaborative classroom culture focused on shared goals and student success.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring lessons are inclusive and responsive.
