Job summary

An education recruitment agency is seeking experienced SEN Tutors in the Lewisham area of London. In this role, you will work with pupils who have special educational needs, providing support in one-to-one or small group settings. Ideal candidates should possess a strong understanding of SEN, the ability to build trusting relationships, and be flexible with working patterns. This position offers £20 - 30 per hour depending on experience, with responsibilities including delivering lessons and adapting to various environments.

Qualifications

  • Strong SEN Tutor (HLTA, LSA or teacher) required.
  • Experience with SEMH/SEN and excellent KS3/KS4 curriculum knowledge.
  • Flexible in working patterns.

TeacherActive are recruiting for strong SEN Tutors in the Lewisham area.

In this role, you will be working on a one‑to‑one basis, or in small groups with pupils that have SEMH and ASD needs. This may be in education settings or other venues – such as libraries or at the home of the pupil.

Responsibilities
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have SEMH and ASD needs.
  • Deliver lessons independently in the home or other venues.
  • Build trusting relationships with children and families.
  • Differentiate curriculum creatively and bespoke.
  • Adapt to various working environments and students with differing abilities.
Qualifications
  • Strong SEN Tutor (HLTA, LSA or teacher).
  • Experienced tutor, confident in delivering 1:1 or small groups.
  • Excellent KS3/KS4 curriculum knowledge.
  • Experience with and understanding of working with SEMH/SEN.
  • An undergraduate degree, and/or prior experience working alongside pupils with SEND.
  • Good general education levels in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of range of learning difficulties and disabilities (SEMH, ASC, challenging behaviour).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude.
  • Flexibility in working patterns.
