Job description
SEN Teaching Assistant

Your skills are specialist-your pay should reflect that.

We are looking for dedicated, resilient, and experienced SEN support staff for a partner school in Chelmsford. This is an opportunity to earn a highly competitive daily rate while working in an environment where your contribution is vital to the safety and development of vulnerable young people.

This role is ideal for those with a background in complex SEN, care work, or specialist education who are looking for a role that offers both financial stability and job satisfaction.

You will be working with students who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism (ASC), and complex needs. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt is crucial.

  • Hands-on Support: Facilitating learning for students who find the classroom environment challenging.
  • Complex Care: Assisting with personal care (feeding, hygiene, toileting) and mobility with dignity and professionalism.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies to help students self-regulate.
  • Engagement: Using creative approaches to help non-verbal or low-functioning students engage with the curriculum.
What You Bring to the Table

To command the top end of our pay bracket (£110/day), we are looking for candidates with significant experience and confidence.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with complex SEN (Autism/SLD) or in a care setting is essential.
  • Attitude: You must be calm under pressure, non-judgemental, and proactive.
  • Willingness: You must be comfortable providing personal care and managing challenging behaviour.
  • Status: An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) is required.
Why Join Us?
  • Top Tier Pay: We are offering £90 - £110 per day, recognising the hard work and skill required for this role.
  • Consistent Work: A stable role in a supportive specialist school.
  • Referral Scheme: We offer a £300 'Refer a Friend' bonus-bring a colleague with you!
