Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Full‑Time, January Start) - Birmingham B45

APT Education, the challenger brand in primary recruitment, is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant specialist to join a supportive primary school near Birmingham B45 from January 2026. This is a full‑time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, working with pupils who have a range of additional needs.

We are looking for a dedicated professional with proven UK primary or SEN school experience, who can provide exceptional support to children with diverse learning requirements.

🏫 The Role
  • Deliver 1:1 support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, and speech impairments
  • Manage and support pupils with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques
  • Assist with small group interventions to aid progress in literacy, numeracy, and social development
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCO, and wider staff to adapt learning plans and ensure inclusive practice
  • Use strong communication skills to support pupils with speech and language difficulties, helping them access learning and build confidence
  • Create a nurturing, safe environment that promotes independence, resilience, and progress for every child
✅ Candidate Requirements
  • Proven UK primary or SEN school experience (essential)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, and speech impairments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to diverse learning needs
  • A fully enhanced DBS (Child Workforce Only) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
