Job description

We currently have a Part Time and a Full Time Teaching assistant positions available to work in a specialist provision for young people with SEND in the Carlisle area. The roles are for people who are confident to support young people with additional needs in the classroom. We welcome people to apply from all backgrounds. If you have experience of working with young people or adults with disabilities this gives a great advantage. We are looking for part time and full time people to support the pupils in the classroom. The school is a vibrant growing school with a passionate team of staff who are committed to supporting young people with additional needs.

The role is to support in the classroom and additional activities, you could be supporting on day trips, or sessions with 3rd party suppliers such as speech and language, art therapy and music therapy. Most of the lessons are energetic and dynamic with a focus on developing the pupils independence, communication skills, motor skills and literacy and numeracy. Each lesson is tailored to the ability of each pupil. You will complete learning journals of the pupils' development each day.

School hours are 8.45‑3.30.

We will offer training and support in the position; everyone who works for us is required to complete Safeguarding Training. Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
