Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and to help them overcome barriers to learning. The role is based in a Birmingham school and pays 100-115 per day, with a full-time, long-term temp-to-perm contract for the full academic year.

The ideal candidate will be patient, proactive, and passionate about SEN support, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and MLD.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through tailored learning strategies.
  • Assisting with EHCP implementation.
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and positive engagement.
  • Building trust and a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and SEN team.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to achieve best outcomes.

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting children with Special Educational Needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

We are looking for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).

About the Role

Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through tailored learning strategies
  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and positive engagement throughout the school day
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
  • Building strong, trusting relationships to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SEN team
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating individual achievements
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
  • A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs
  • Patient, caring, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupils on a long-term basis
