Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary school in the B16 area starting September 2026. The role sits in the SEN Resource Base, supporting pupils with ASD, SLCN, SEMH, and EHCPs, with some personal care duties to promote dignity and wellbeing.

You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and families to deliver targeted interventions and help pupils achieve EHCP outcomes in a supportive, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
  • Experience working with pupils with ASD, SLCN, SEMH, and EHCPs.
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the school's SEN Resource Base.
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASD), SLCN, SEMH, and a range of complex learning needs.
  • Deliver personalised interventions in line with EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans.
  • Provide personal care where required, ensuring pupils' dignity, comfort, and wellbeing.
  • Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and families to maximise pupil progress.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

The Opportunity

Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the B16 area from September 2026.

This rewarding role is based within the school's dedicated SEN Resource Base, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role will also involve personal care responsibilities, supporting pupils with their daily routines while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing.

The school is well-established with a highly supportive leadership team and experienced SEN staff, creating a welcoming and collaborative environment where both pupils and staff are encouraged to thrive.

Your Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or specialist setting

  • Comfortable providing personal care where required
  • Strong communication, behaviour management, and teamwork skills
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • All applicants must have an enhanced DBS and two references to be considered.
