Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd in Dudley is seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with a range of SEND on a full-time, long-term temp-to-perm contract for the full academic year.

You will work alongside experienced teachers, SENCOs and support staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment, delivering 1:1 and small group interventions and helping pupils access the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
  • Good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs or other additional needs
  • Able to adapt to individual needs and work well as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist pupils to access the curriculum through tailored activities
  • Support with EHCP implementation and monitoring progress
  • Work with teachers, SENCO and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Dudley £110-£115 per day Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, long-term temp-to-perm (Full Academic Year) Long Term Futures is seeking a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Dudley.


This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.


Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will play a vital role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.


Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):



  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through tailored learning activities and interventions

  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, and social skills

  • Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour using consistent strategies

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SEN team

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable

  • A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a nurturing approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and work effectively as part of a team
