Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd in Dudley is seeking a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school. You will provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN and help them access the curriculum with tailored activities.

As part of a supportive team, you will assist with EHCPs, encourage confidence, independence and social skills, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment. Start ASAP with long-term temp-to-perm potential.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Understanding of ASC/ADHD/SEMH/Speech & Language Needs.
  • Patient, empathetic and resilient with a nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support access to the curriculum through tailored learning activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SEN team.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

Contract: Full-time, long-term temp-to-perm (Full Academic Year)

Long Term Futures is seeking a caring and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Dudley. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will play a vital role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to succeed.

About the Role

Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through tailored learning activities and interventions
  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, and social skills
  • Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour using consistent strategies
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and the SEN team
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
  • A good understanding of Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other additional needs
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and work effectively as part of a team
  • Reliable, proactive, and committed to making a positive impact
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
