An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEN teaching and learning advisor to join our school improvement team at Hampshire County Council.

Do you share our ambition for achieving a consistently inclusive high-quality education for all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities?

Are you looking for a challenging and diverse role working as part of a friendly and supportive team, with an opportunity to make a real difference?

The Role:

Teaching and Learning Advisors are responsible for contributing to the achievement and improved performance of children in school in the areas of their specialism and more widely, across the whole curriculum, so that the whole community benefits from better educated, more numerate and literate young people, better able to learn and make positive choices about their actions.

What you’ll do:

Teaching and Learning Advisers are expected to:

  • work with the full range of schools and providers, demonstrating best practice and providing effective advice
  • provide training and consultancy to schools in Hampshire in order to raise standards of achievement for children
  • narrow the gap in achievement between those most vulnerable and the rest of the school population
  • build capacity in Hampshire schools enabling schools to achieve overall outstanding effectiveness
What we’re looking for:

You will need to have a strong background in SEND, pedagogical understanding and successful leadership experience of SEND in a school setting. A demonstrable commitment to professional learning, research-based practice and keeping abreast of new initiatives will be important.

Hampshire has a strongly performing Children’s Services Directorate and high ambition for its children and young people. This post, with a dedicated focus on some of our most vulnerable children and young people, demonstrates our commitment to inclusivity and our drive to secure strong outcomes, in the broadest sense, for all. At all times you will demonstrate and prioritise a resolute commitment to the safety and well-being of children and young people.

You will be joining a highly effective countywide team of school improvement professionals and will be an advocate of partnership working, with a strong emphasis on building collaborative approaches with and across schools, services and wider agencies. A genuine passion and a deeply held moral imperative to do the best for all our children and young people is essential to the role, as are the skills, knowledge and experience needed to translate our ambition into practice.

Our benefits package includes details of the holiday entitlement, pension scheme and interest free travel loans and discounts. We offer a flexible, motivating and inclusive workplace. We have created an environment that you can look forward to being a part of, where you are empowered to be your best and a workplace built on teamwork where people can grow and develop in their roles.
