Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking an outgoing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Frankley Green, Birmingham from September 2026. You will provide 1:1 support for KS1 pupils with Autism (ASD) to help them access learning and engage with classroom activities.

Working with the class teacher, you will implement personalised strategies, promote communication and independence, and help maintain a calm, structured learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing 1:1 support in primary or specialist settings.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for KS1 pupils with ASD.
  • Support pupils in re-engaging with classroom learning and routines.
  • Implement personalised strategies linked to EHCP outcomes.
  • Promote communication, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Help create a calm, structured learning environment.

The Opportunity: Long Term Futures are seeking an outgoing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Frankley Green from September 2026. This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support for Key Stage 1 pupils with Autism (ASD), helping them successfully access learning and re-engage with classroom activities.


Working alongside the class teacher, you will play a key role in implementing personalised support strategies that promote confidence, communication, and independence.

Your Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for KS1 pupils with Autism (ASD)

  • Support pupils in re-engaging with classroom learning and daily routines

  • Implement personalised strategies linked to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans

  • Promote communication, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions

  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom organisation throughout the day

  • Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO

  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment


Requirements:


  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASD)

  • Experience providing 1:1 support within a primary or specialist educational setting

  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning strategies

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Patient, proactive, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
