An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and skilled Reading Intervention Assistant to join a dynamic and inclusive special school in East London. The school supports children and young people aged 4–18 with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, and Severe Learning Difficulties. The role is essential in providing evidence‑based, tailored reading support to help pupils make meaningful progress in literacy and communication. This is a highly rewarding role within a team committed to enabling every pupil to thrive, develop independence, and lead fulfilling, happy lives.
The Reading Intervention Assistant will deliver targeted literacy support to pupils across age groups and learning pathways. Working under the guidance of the Literacy Lead, the successful candidate will implement and monitor reading interventions (including Read Write Inc.) that meet the needs of learners with complex needs. You will contribute to the development of early reading skills and help foster a love of reading among pupils.
