Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with additional needs under the guidance of teaching staff. You will assist with learning activities, manage daily routines, and help create an inclusive classroom environment.

The role involves working closely with pupils, following plans, and promoting pupil independence while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding obligations.

Qualifications

• Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Minimum 6 weeks experience in a learning environment or placement, or 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and care of pupils with special educational needs inside and outside the classroom.
• Contribute to inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings.
• Support with administration, records, and learning resources.
• Attend to safety, confidentiality and safeguarding as required.
• Follow school policies and risk assessments while supporting pupils.
