Job summary

National Instruments in Newtownards invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs. Reporting to The Principal, through the class teacher, you will provide educational support and care to pupils with SEN in and out of the classroom, assisting with programmes and promoting inclusion.

The role requires patience, adaptability and a willingness to work as part of a team; you'll help with personal care, safety, and preparation of learning resources, and support pupils

Qualifications

• Option 1: Level 2 qualification and 6 weeks experience in learning.
• Option 2: 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Core knowledge includes health and safety, child development and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support for pupils with SEN.
• Promote inclusion and help pupils participate in programmes.
• Support with administration and progress records.
• Supervise groups or individuals during activities and transport.
• Attend in-service training and work as part of the team.
