Job summary

The Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN under the supervision of the class teacher. The role focuses on enabling access to the curriculum and assisting with personal care where required.

You will reinforce learning activities, help maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment, and contribute to inclusion within mainstream schools.

Qualifications

• Assist with educational support for pupils with special educational needs.
• Develop an understanding of individual pupil needs and how to support them.
• Follow authorised programmes (e.g. Education Plan) and assist with their evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with special educational needs.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and participate in activities.
• Support with personal care, including feeding, toileting and hygiene as required.
