Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs under the direction of teaching staff. The role focuses on enabling access to the curriculum, personal care needs, and contributing to inclusive education within the classroom and school setting.

The successful candidate will assist with behavior management, prepare teaching resources, and support off-site activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria: Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• AND Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or through a placement as part of your Level 2 qualification.
• OR Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience working in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the educational support and care of pupils with special educational needs.
• Assist with the management of the learning environment to help pupils learn effectively.
• Prepare and produce resources to support pupils and supervise groups or individuals.
