Job summary

The Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs. You will support pupils with SEN in and out of the classroom, assist with programmes and promote inclusion in mainstream settings.

The role requires meeting essential criteria including Level 2 qualification and time in learning environments, plus strong communication and teamwork. Safeguarding and confidentiality are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area gained from a recognised awarding body, certificate or diploma level.
• Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience gained in a formal learning environment or through a placement.
• Desirable criteria include 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with special educational needs to access the curriculum.
• Develop understanding of individual pupil needs and participate in Education/Care Plans.
• Support inclusion of pupils in mainstream schools and implement behavioural management as directed.
• Assist with administration, supervision, and resource preparation to support learning.
