Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN in and outside the classroom. You will assist with educational activities, implement plans, and help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment under the direction of the class teacher.

Essential criteria include a Level 2 qualification and demonstrable experience in a formal learning setting, with safeguarding and child protection knowledge.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 qualification (Certificate or Diploma) in a relevant area.
• Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or through a placement.
• Applicants should be prepared for an enhanced disclosure background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and the care of pupils with special educational needs.
• Support inclusion of pupils in mainstream schools.
• Assist with moving pupils around the school and during transport where required.
• Provide continuity of adult care and supervise pupils during activities.
• Assist with administration and recording as directed by teachers.
