Job summary

Education Authority is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Additional Special Educational Needs to support pupils in Antrim, Belfast and Glenveagh Special School. Under the direction of teachers, you will assist with educational support, care, and inclusion within and outside the classroom.

The role involves helping with education plans, personal care, and safe supervision, with emphasis on safeguarding and creating an enabling learning environment for pupils with SEN.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area and have at least 6 weeks experience in a learning environment.
• Alternatively, have 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and pupil care under the direction of the class teacher.
• Assist with delivery of education plans, care plans and evaluation of support.
• Support pupils with SEN to access the curriculum and participate in activities.
• Help with learning environment management, resources and supervision.
