Job summary

Education Authority in Armagh-Craigavon is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher. The role focuses on enabling curriculum access, assisting with personal care, and promoting independent learning in a supportive environment.

The position is part-time (32.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 qualification (Certificate or Diploma) or have a minimum of 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements and safeguarding for children.
• Show effective planning, organisation, and ability to follow school systems and plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils with SEN to access the curriculum and participate in activities.
• Support personal and dietary needs, including feeding and toileting where required.
• Assist with behavioural management and safety within the learning environment.
• Help pupils move around the school and accompany transport/activities.
• Provide administration support: records, resources, and progress updates.
• Attend in-service training and contribute to school routines.
