Job summary

The Education Authority in Antrim is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Additional Special Educational Needs to support pupils with in-class and integrated sessions. The role involves assisting with personal care, accessing the curriculum, and facilitating safe participation in activities alongside teaching staff.

Post is part-time with flexible options during school holidays; experience in SEN or MLN settings is highly valued and safeguarding matters are emphasised.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate health and safety knowledge for children and young people.
• Show understanding of development needs and safeguarding requirements.
• Evidence of planning, organisation and teamwork in a learning setting.
• Ability to support pupils with SEN or MLDS with individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and care of pupils with special needs.
• Support inclusion and access to the curriculum under supervision.
• Assist with personal care needs, feeding, toileting, and equipment use.
• Support with behavioural management and safe movement around the school.
• Assist with administration, resources, and off-site activities as required.
