Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher to support pupils with SEN, help access the curriculum, and assist with personal care and safety within the classroom and on transport when required.

The role requires understanding pupil needs, following planned Education/Care plans, supporting inclusion in mainstream settings, and contributing to a safe, supportive learning

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• AND Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience gained in a learning environment or placement.
• OR Have a minimum of 12 months experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with SEN pupil(s) support to enable curriculum access and attend to personal needs.
• Develop understanding of pupil needs and participate in Education/Care Plans.
• Contribute to inclusion in mainstream schools and support safety and wellbeing.
• Support with off-site activities and administration as directed.
