Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream classrooms. You will assist with personal care, learning activities, and implementing Education Plans under the guidance of the class teacher.

The role requires patience, reliability, and a good understanding of safeguarding. Experience in educational settings and Level 2 qualifications are desirable, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or placement.
• Desirable Level 3 qualification in a relevant area.
• Level 2 English and/or Mathematics passes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupil(s) with special educational needs.
• Assist with implementing authorised programmes and participation in evaluation.
• Contribute to inclusion of pupils in mainstream schools.
• Support with operational and non-invasive medical/clinical duties as needed.
• Assist with daily activities and supervising groups of pupils.
