Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with additional learning needs in and around the classroom. Under the direction of the class teacher, you will assist with instruction, behaviour management, personal care, and the preparation of learning resources to help pupils access the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area from a recognised awarding body.
• Minimum 6 months experience in a formal learning environment or placement.
• Alternative: 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment or Specialist Provision attached to mainstream.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom and SEN pupil support under teacher direction.
• Contribute to inclusive learning by implementing planned activities.
• Assist with personal care and mobility as required.
• Prepare resources and materials to support learning and independence.
• Support positive behaviour and safeguarding practices.
