Job summary

Education Authority in Armagh is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN in and out of the classroom. You will assist with care, learning activities, and the implementation of education plans under the guidance of teachers and outreach staff.

The role requires a Level 2 qualification or equivalent and experience in a learning environment, with a focus on safeguarding, teamwork, and flexible involvement in school activities.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area and minimum experience in a formal learning environment or equivalent.
• Understand health and safety requirements and safeguarding for children/young people.
• Able to plan, follow systems, work in a team, and communicate effectively to support a child-centred learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the support and care of pupils with special educational needs within the classroom and during transport.
• Help implement Education Plans and Care Plans under supervision.
• Contribute to inclusion of pupils in mainstream settings.
