Job summary

Cookstown High School is seeking a part-time Classroom Assistant for Special Educational Needs to support pupils under the direction of teaching staff. The role covers in-class and school-based support, including assisting with practical tasks, personal care, and implementing education plans.

Experience in a formal learning environment is essential, with a Level 2 qualification or higher, and a willingness to work flexibly during school holidays.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area.
• Have a minimum of 6 weeks’ experience in a formal learning environment or 12 months’ experience in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with educational support and care of pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Assist with implementation of Education Plan and Care Plan under supervision.
• Support pupils in moving around school and attending activities.
• Maintain safe and supportive learning environment and report any concerns.
