Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Cover Supervisor for a specialist SEMH school in Corby. You will supervise lessons, deliver pre-planned work and help students stay engaged in learning.

Working in an SEMH setting, you will support students facing emotional and behavioural challenges, building positive relationships and maintaining a calm, supportive learning environment. This role suits those with education or youth-work experience and a resilient nature.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and help them achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside of the classroom.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the teacher, delivering pre-planned work and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.Working within an SEMH setting, you will play a key role in supporting students who may experience emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges. Building positive relationships and maintaining a calm, consistent approach will be essential to your success.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising lessons and delivering pre-prepared work
• Supporting students to engage positively with learning
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Managing behaviour in line with school policies and support plans
• Supporting students with emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff
• Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience and confidence
• Creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
• Providing feedback on student progress, behaviour and engagement

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people
• Has a genuine interest in mental health, behaviour and education
• Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure
• Can build positive relationships with students who may present challenging behaviours
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is adaptable, proactive and confident leading a classroom
