Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant in Corby to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs. The role focuses on building emotional regulation, relationships and engagement in learning, under supervision of teaching and pastoral staff.

The ideal applicant brings experience with young people in related settings, strong communication and resilience, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning in a specialist SEMH

Responsibilities

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Corby. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in education. You will play a vital role in building positive relationships, promoting emotional regulation, and helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

The Role:
  • Supporting students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and other support staff to meet students' individual needs.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience working with young people in education, care, youth work, support work, or a similar setting.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build rapport with students who may have experienced challenges in their education.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a positive difference.
  • Psychology graduates, youth workers, support workers, and aspiring teachers are encouraged to apply.
