Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an Emotional Wellbeing & Behaviour Support Mentor to join a specialist educational setting in Corby. You will support pupils with SEMH needs to improve mental health, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

This full-time, long-term position offers opportunities to work closely with teachers and SEN staff to provide consistent, compassionate support, building resilience and helping students develop coping strategies for life beyond school.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Patient, empathetic, approachable and resilient.
• Able to build strong relationships with pupils while maintaining boundaries.
• Experience in schools or SEMH settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH.
• Supporting pupils with anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties and challenging behaviour.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and providing a consistent source of support.
• Helping students understand and manage their emotions and develop coping strategies.
• Supporting pupils to regulate their behaviour and manage difficult situations.
• Encouraging confidence, resilience, independence and self-esteem.
• Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.
• Using a calm, patient and consistent approach when responding to challenging behaviour.
• Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
• Encouraging positive communication, social skills and healthy relationships.
• Contributing to a safe, supportive and nurturing school environment.
• Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining appropriate records around pupil wellbeing and behaviour.

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a specialist educational setting in Corby who are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic Emotional Wellbeing & Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils who may experience a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties, providing consistent support both inside and outside of the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.
• Has experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Is patient, empathetic, approachable and resilient.
• Understands that behaviour can be linked to a young person's emotional needs and experiences.
• Is confident remaining calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
• Can build strong relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is passionate about helping young people develop and achieve their potential.
• Experience within schools, SEMH settings, residential care, youth work, mental health support, psychology, counselling, sports or other child-focused environments would be beneficial.
