Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker based at The Hive, Aldershot, to support children and young people with SEMH needs. In partnership with schools, families and other professionals, you will deliver targeted behavioural and emotional wellbeing interventions to help pupils engage with learning.

You will use empathy and de-escalation techniques, build positive relationships, contribute to workforce development, and help extend services to Key Stage 3 settings as part of

Qualifications

• Experience working in secondary schools with children and families.
• Knowledge of child development and factors affecting engagement in education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused.
• Genuine commitment to inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group interventions that help children and young people overcome barriers to learning and participation.
• Provide practical, pastoral and behavioural support, using de-escalation techniques and agreed strategies to meet individual needs.
• Work closely with schools, families and partner agencies to develop and implement effective support plans.
• Model and share good practice, contributing to behaviour support consultation, advice, training and workforce development.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews and help evaluate the impact of support provided.
