Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker for the Primary Behaviour Service to support children and young people with SEMH needs in local schools. You will use empathy, resilience and relationship-building to help pupils engage, overcome barriers to learning and improve wellbeing, working with schools, families and other professionals.

You will deliver targeted interventions, maintain records and contribute to reviews, with travel across Hampshire and a valid driving

Qualifications

• Experience working in schools with children and families, preferably SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, families and professionals.
• Ability to stay calm and solution-focused in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group interventions to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and participation.
• Provide practical, pastoral and behavioural support using de-escalation techniques and agreed strategies.
• Work with schools, families and partner agencies to develop effective support plans.
• Model and share good practice; contribute to behaviour support consultation, advice, training and workforce development.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews and evaluate impact of support provided.
• Travel to various locations within Hampshire; hold a current driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
