Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join the Primary Behaviour Service in Gosport. You will deliver targeted interventions to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, working with schools, families and professionals to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

This role requires experience with SEMH needs in schools, strong communication, and a commitment to inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Experience working in secondary schools with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of child development and factors affecting engagement in education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused in challenging situations.
• Genuine commitment to inclusion and belief that every child can succeed with the right support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver interventions to help children overcome barriers to learning.
• Provide practical, pastoral and behavioural support using de-escalation techniques.
• Work with schools, families and partner agencies to develop and implement support plans.
• Model and share good practice, contribute to training and workforce development.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews and evaluate impact.
