Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to support KS3 and Primary Transition, helping pupils with SEMH needs access and engage with learning. You will work with schools, families and professionals to deliver targeted interventions, promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing.

This role contributes to an expanding service, with opportunities for workforce development and shared best practice across Hampshire.

Qualifications

• Experience in secondary schools with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of child development and factors affecting education access.
• KS2 to KS3 transition knowledge desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, professional and solution-focused in challenging situations.
• Commitment to inclusion and belief in every child’s potential.
• Collaborative team player contributing to an expanding service.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group interventions in schools and at the centre to help children overcome barriers to learning.
• Provide practical, pastoral and behavioural support using de-escalation techniques and agreed strategies.
• Work with schools, families and partner agencies to develop and implement support plans.
• Model and share good practice, contributing to training and workforce development.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews and evaluate impact of support.
• Support the delivery of training and strategic work.
