Job description

The G4S UHB NHS Trust Security Supervisor is responsible via the G4S UHB NHS Trust operational management team for the overall performance of the security teams within a defined shift pattern across the UHB NHS Trust Account including Heartlands Hospital (BHH), Good Hope Hospital (GHH) & Solihull Hospital (SHH).

The G4S UHB NHS Security Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of operational supervision within the account & to ensure all UHB NHS Trust security processes / procedures are adhered to by competent & trained staff.

The candidate should have previous Supervisory / Managerial experience.

The candidate would be expected to have a good level of computer skills and be competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

It is a requirement for this position that you hold a Full UK Driving License and have your own vehicle.

This role will cover a mixture of days, nights and weekends - full flexibility is required.

Unsocial hours allowances in place.

Your Time at Work

Core duties
  • Proactively assist the G4S operational management team in maintaining correct manning levels on all sites
  • Ensure that all scheduled duties are entered onto the site rota & that the G4S operational management team is aware of any future shortages
  • Ensure that all security officers undertake & fully understand site specific training
  • Ensure that all site security officers are suitably trained in respect of Bodyworn Video (BWV) process, two way radio process, serviceability checks, booking in, out
  • Conduct, document & manage bi‑monthly continuation training with all security officers highlighting any areas of additional training needs then devising a refresher training programme targeting training needs
  • Monitor daily activities of the security team on site ensuring that they carry out all duties in line with the Assignment Instructions
  • If any deficiency in daily activities is identified this must be escalated immediately to the G4S UHB NHS Trust Operational Team. The G4S security supervisor will identify the root cause of the failure & work to identify solutions to ensure no further failings
  • Maintain and monitor daily performance to ensure that security officer's behaviours & appearance are in line with company & customer expectations
  • Where applicable, take appropriate corrective action to address security colleague performance & behavioural issues. Alternatively & where a more serious issues arise advise the G4S UHB NHS Trust security operational team then assist in conducting a full investigation in accordance with G4S company HR process
  • Maintain & ensure maintenance of all shift paperwork ensuring that all daily KPI tasking's are completed & supply information to the G4S UHB NHS Trust National Contract Manager at month end for audit, contract monthly review reporting
  • Ensure that the Monday equipment status report is compiled & sent electronically to the Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS)
  • Ensure that the UHB NHS Trust CCTV audit is completed on a weekly basis across all sites
  • Ensure a weekly review of4S colleagues parking permits ensuring all parking permits are in date
  • Ensure all Accommodation payments received & managed by the G4S UHB NHS Trust security team across all three locations are conveyed to the relevant finance office
  • Any other reasonable tasks, duties, responsibilities requested of you by the G4S UHB NHS Trust security management team
Customer Management
  • Identify innovation and best practice improvement opportunities across the UHB NHS Account in conjunction with the G4S UHB NHS Operations team
  • Maintain and develop an exceptional working relationship with all stakeholders as required to ensure an effective delivery of service
Company Procedure
  • Maintain on‑site training records for all officers in conjunction with the G4S UHB NHS Operations team
  • Monitor Assignment Instructions and Risk Assessments and raise any required changes to the G4S UHB NHS Operations Team so that the changes can be considered and implemented
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that Health & Safety assessments are relevant and up to date in conjunction with the G4S UHB NHS Operations team
  • Maintain all relevant Customer documentation relevant to the security operations delivered by the G4S UHB NHS Operations team

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • You MUST have a valid Door Supervisor SIA License
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the security industry or military, police or prison custody
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory / managerial experience
  • MUST have own transport and a full clean UK driving license
  • Good IT skills and understanding of smart mobile use and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexibility to work varied shift patterns including days, nights, and weekends
  • Experience working security in healthcare is desirable
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and safeguarding is desirable
