Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting Teaching Assistants to support students across Bristol-area secondary schools. You will work closely with teachers and the inclusion team to engage learners, deliver targeted interventions, and support wellbeing.

Experience with young people is valued; training and DBS checks are provided. The role offers ongoing development, a supportive team, and potential progression to permanent positions.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, or in schools as a Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant is advantageous.
  • Willingness to undergo training and DBS checks as part of safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills with teachers and pastoral staff.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons to access learning and stay engaged.
  • Deliver literacy and numeracy interventions in small groups or 1:1 where needed.
  • Help build confidence, resilience and independent learning in pupils.
  • Assist with emotional wellbeing and behavioural support as part of the inclusion team.
  • Collaborate with teaching and pastoral teams to support student progress.

Protocol Education help a range of Bristol Secondary Schools (including BS1, BS2, BS5, BS6, BS4 BS14, BS13) to help them find talented, driven and reliable Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to students' confidence, wellbeing and progress in school. If you have experience working with young people, or working as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in schools already, fantastic - we can put yopu into a role that is rioght for you straigjt away! Or you can begin to explore opportunities. However, if you have no experience and are looking to get a foot in the door, we can train you, build your experience and CV through ad hoc work, and find you a permanent placement after you are fully confident.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider inclusion team to help students engage with learning and feel successful in school.

Some students may require support within lessons, while others may benefit from small-group interventions or individual mentoring sessions focused on confidence, emotional wellbeing and personal development.

No two days are quite the same, but every day offers the opportunity to have a positive impact.

  • Delivering literacy and numeracy interventions in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
