Job summary

Protocol Education supports Bristol secondary schools in recruiting Teaching Assistants to help students engage with learning and build confidence. You will work with teachers and inclusion staff to provide targeted support in lessons, small groups or one-to-one sessions.

No prior experience required? we can train you and place you where you fit best, with ongoing professional development and a dedicated consultant. This is a temp role with potential to become permanent.

Qualifications

  • Patient, calm and approachable demeanor when supporting students.
  • Strong communication to build trust with pupils, teachers and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and with pastoral staff.
  • Experience or interest in supporting literacy, numeracy and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in lessons to access learning and stay engaged.
  • Adapt support to meet individual needs and break down tasks.
  • Deliver literacy and numeracy interventions in small groups or 1:1 sessions.
  • Help build confidence, resilience and independence in pupils.
  • Support emotional regulation and wellbeing of students.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Collaborate with teaching and pastoral teams to plan and deliver support.

Job description

Protocol Education help a range of Bristol Secondary Schools (including BS1, BS2, BS5, BS6, BS4 BS14, BS13) to help them find talented, driven and reliable Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to students' confidence, wellbeing and progress in school. If you have experience working with young people, or working as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in schools already, fantastic - we can put yopu into a role that is rioght for you straigjt away! Or you can begin to explore opportunities. However, if you have no experience and are looking to get a foot in the door, we can train you, build your experience and CV through ad hoc work, and find you a permanent placement after you are fully confident.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider inclusion team to help students engage with learning and feel successful in school. Some students may require support within lessons, while others may benefit from small-group interventions or individual mentoring sessions focused on confidence, emotional wellbeing and personal development. No two days are quite the same, but every day offers the opportunity to have a positive impact.
