Job summary

Education Authority in Tyrone-Strabane is seeking a Cook to support the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in the preparation and cooking of meals for the school. The role requires a positive team player with strong hygiene practices and the ability to manage service points and basic admin tasks.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8am-2pm, 27.50 hours per week, on a fixed-term contract until March 2027, with a retainer during school holidays.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment
• Willingness to undertake job related training

Responsibilities

• Skilled cooking activities for the full range of meals including menu prep and portion control
• Record keeping and hygiene/health and safety in the kitchen
• Direct or share supervision of other staff in kitchen operations
• Operational control of service points including transported meals
• Stock-taking, stores/fridges, deliveries and kitchen management when Senior Supervisor is absent
• Assist with meal planning, training of staff and cash handling where appropriate
• General kitchen duties such as washing up, setup/clearing, cleaning kitchen and dining areas
• Promote the service to parents, principals and customers to increase uptake
• Secure premises as required
