Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland seeks a School Cook at Dromore High School to prepare and cook meals for pupils and staff. The role is part-time, 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am–2.30pm, with a 30 minute unpaid break, and includes a retainer fee during school holidays.

You should hold NVQ2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent (or two years’ catering experience) and have knowledge of HACCP.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent (or 2 years’ catering experience).
• Knowledge of HACCP.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training.

Responsibilities

• Skilled cooking activities for the full range of meals; assist with menu planning and portion control.
• Record keeping and hygiene/health & safety in the kitchen; supervise staff where needed.
• Operational control of service points including transported meals.
• Stock-taking, stores/fridges, receiving deliveries; general kitchen management when required.
• Assist in promotion of the service to parents and customers; secure premises as needed.
• Washing up, setting up/clearing away, cleaning kitchen and dining areas.
