Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Building Supervisor (with no supervision) to provide cleaning and non-cleaning services under the direction of the designated line manager. The role includes security, mechanical and electrical tasks, and ensuring high cleaning standards across school premises.

The post involves taking responsibility as a key holder, responding to call-outs, and supporting health and safety practices in a school environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months’ demonstrable experience working as an assistant building supervisor and/or building supervisor and/or caretaker and/or cleaner in a school environment.
• As a key holder, be prepared to respond to call outs at short notice, including during unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

• Security: manage premises access, secure doors/windows, and monitor security systems.
• Mechanical and Electrical: operate heating systems, lighting, and maintenance of plant.
• Cleaning: supervise cleaning staff, ensure standards, and prepare premises for use.
• Porterage: handle stores, transport, and setup rooms for events/exams.
• Administration: compile reports, manage stock, and paperwork.
