Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Building Supervisor (with no supervision) to manage the cleaning and non-cleaning tasks under the direction of the line manager, ensuring safe and compliant premises.

The role covers security, mechanical and electrical services, cleaning, porterage and general administration, with duties including opening/closing the site, monitoring alarms, and coordinating cleaning staff as required.

Qualifications

• Have a minimum of six months’ demonstrable experience working as an assistant building supervisor and/or building supervisor and/or caretaker and/or cleaner in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Security of the premises and its contents.
• Open and close the premises and grounds.
• Ensure all windows, doors and gates are locked.
• Safe custody of keys and allocation to staff.
• Operate security camera systems and alarms.
• Respond to after-hours incidents and report faults.
• Report security breaches and safety issues.
• Apply grit/rock salt for snow/ice where needed.
• Efficient operation of heating and lighting systems.
• Plan, organise and supervise cleaning work.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Prepare premises for after-school activities and examinations.
