Overview

The post supports the leadership and operational delivery of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle across the Trust within a clinical governance framework. The post holder will work closely with the Lead Midwife for Quality and Safety to lead the development of full implementation and sustainability of the care bundle across the Trust. The post holder will lead and facilitate quality improvement and audit programmes aimed at equipping maternity and neonatal staff to increase their knowledge and competence in risk assessments during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods in all clinical settings and improve clinical decision making and escalation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective care to pregnant women during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods.
  • Provide proactive and effective leadership.
  • Act as an expert practitioner.
  • Work in partnership with women and their families.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate highly developed communication skills in challenging situations where barriers to communication and changing circumstances may exist.
  • Provide specialist midwifery care for a specific group of women.
  • Advise and provide specialist support to midwives in related clinical areas.
  • Share specialist knowledge with other professional groups and agencies.
  • Promote the wellbeing and safety of patients and carers by acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately, in line with policy and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
