Sales Director | Residential Household Goods

Position Overview
The Sales Director – Residential Household Goods will lead Mesa’s residential (COD) sales strategy across multiple regions. This role is accountable for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring that all sales activities align with Mesa’s service standards and brand promise.
The Sales Director will oversee a dispersed team of outside sales representatives, virtual sales personnel, and centralized call center staff, ensuring a high-performance culture that thrives on professionalism, customer care, and operational alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute regional and national sales strategies to achieve revenue targets for the Residential Household Goods segment.
- Provide accurate forecasting, sales pipelines, and performance reporting for senior leadership.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive intelligence, and pricing dynamics to maintain a strong market position.
- Identify growth opportunities in assigned regions and develop targeted plans to expand Mesa’s residential footprint.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing residential sales team across multiple locations.
- Set clear performance expectations with KPIs tied to revenue, customer satisfaction, and operational collaboration.
- Provide ongoing coaching, professional development, and performance reviews.
- Lead remote sales personnel, virtual sales teams, and call center-based sales staff with strong accountability structures.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with residential customers, referral partners, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee pricing models to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates.
- Lead resolution of escalated customer issues to ensure service recovery and customer retention.
- Promote Mesa’s service standards and ensure a high-quality sales experience for customers undergoing stressful life transitions.
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Operations, Dispatch, Customer Service, and Marketing to ensure seamless coordination of residential moves.
- Work with Marketing to shape campaigns, messaging, and digital strategies targeting household goods customers.
- Ensure operational readiness for seasonal volume fluctuations and marketing-driven demand.
Compliance & Company Standards
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations, Federal/State transportation requirements, and company policies.
- Uphold Mesa’s brand standards, code of professional conduct, and ethical selling practices.
- Champion sustainability initiatives, including eco-friendly packing solutions and fuel-efficient fleet practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience; moving, logistics, transportation, or service-industry experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading multi-state or multi-site sales teams, including remote and virtual sales environments.
- Experience managing centralized call center sales personnel.
- Strong proficiency with CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred) and data-driven decision-making.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and consistently meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Strong knowledge of household goods moving processes, pricing methodology, and customer expectations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
