Job summary

Plumb Centre Derby is seeking a Sales Assistant to help customers at the trade counter with product recommendations and expert advice. You will handle phone and email enquiries, contact previous customers to win back business, and support warehouse tasks to ensure smooth branch operations.

The role offers a 40-hour week, with early start times and occasional Saturday mornings on a rota. The salary is £26,695 plus bonus and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers on the trade counter with advice and product recommendations.
• Respond to customer enquiries by phone & email promptly and courteously.
• Make outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging new and existing customers.
• Carry out general warehouse duties including receiving stock and picking/packing orders.

Job description

As a Sales Assistant based in our Derby branch you'll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

Requirements / Qualifications

• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal
• Previous Face to Face sales and customer service experience
• Warehouse experience
• The ability to deliver outstanding customer service
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 07.30am - 4.30pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.
