Job summary

Plumb Centre in Basingstoke (RG22 4DQ) is seeking a Sales Assistant to help customers at the trade counter, advise on products and drive sales. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:00am–5:00pm with Saturday mornings on a rota.

You will respond to enquiries by phone and email, handle stock and warehouse duties, and work as part of a team to ensure smooth branch operations. Plumbing and heating knowledge is ideal, and previous face-to-face sales experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in trade counter or retail sales is preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift heavy items.
• Team player with a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers on the trade counter with product advice and recommendations.
• Respond to enquiries by phone and email promptly and courteously.
• Make outbound calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to drive sales within the branch.
• Perform general warehouse duties including stock receipt, put-away, and order picking.

As a Sales Assistant based in our Basingstoke branch you’ll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations

• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude

• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business

• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers

• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 07.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.
