Job summary

Plumb Centre in Basingstoke is seeking a Sales Assistant to help trade customers at the counter, provide product advice and build strong customer relations. You’ll respond to inquiries by phone and email, and work to recover lost business while actively driving sales in a busy branch.

This full-time role involves stock handling, loading/unloading heavy items, and assisting in all areas to ensure smooth branch operations. Competitive benefits accompany the salary.

As a Sales Assistant based in our Basingstoke branch you’ll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 07.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.

• Previous Face to Face sales and customer service experience is essential
• Warehouse experience
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
• To be comfortable lifting heavy items
