Job summary

Plumb Centre in Oldham is seeking a Sales Assistant to join our team and help customers at the trade counter with product guidance. You’ll handle enquiries by phone and email, while actively pursuing opportunities to grow branch sales.

The role is full-time, based at the Oldham branch, with a Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm schedule and Saturday mornings on a rota. Previous trade counter and warehouse experience is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Plumbing and heating knowledge is ideal.
• Face-to-face sales and customer service experience.
• Warehouse experience.
• Willingness to deliver outstanding customer service.
• Team player able to help in all branch operations.
• Positive attitude, eager to learn and strong work ethic.
• Comfortable lifting heavy items.

Responsibilities

• Serve customers on the trade counter with tailored product recommendations and advice.
• Respond to customer enquiries via phone and email promptly and courteously.
• Make outbound calls to previous customers to regain their business.
• Identify and pursue opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging new and existing customers.
• Assist with general warehouse duties including stock handling, receiving, putting away, and order picking.

As a Sales Assistant based in our Oldham branch you’ll be responsible for:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.
